Raimondo Scifo has always been fascinated by martial arts. From around the age of 10 he practiced Judo till the age of about 15. Than he began to practice Tae Kwon Do, till the age of 18.
During the years of university he stopped practicing martial arts and focussed on his studies.
After obtaining his degree he looked for a martial art that would fit him. At this time Ray didn’t know which art to practice so he decide to explore and cross-trained in Ju Jitsu, Kyokushin Karate, Kajukenbo and Kali Eskrima.
Raimondo was so passionate about the martial practice that his average training time at that time was more than 10 hours a week.
After a few year of cross-training he realized that he preferred the Filipino Martial Arts (Kali Eskrima). So he decided to deepen his knowledge of this art and started to cross-train in Arnis Koredas, Nickelstick Balintawak, Inosanto Kali, Doce Pares and Warriors Eskrima.
His main instructors in the Filipino Martial Arts were Guro Flavio Ruiz Van Hoof and Pangulong Guro Krishna Godhania, two of the Best FMA instructors in Europe.
Guro Flavio Ruiz Van Hoof ( Guro Ron Balicki’s representative for Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands) introduced Raimondo to the art of Jeet Kune do and Maphilindo Silat.
In 2011, Ray obtained the Certificate of Katulong Guro in the art of Warriors Eskrima, so he decided to open a Warriors Eskrima class in Charleroi ( Belgium).
In 2012 he obtained the rank of Level I monitor in the Ccos System ( close combat system)
In 2016 he obtained the certificate of Kasama Guro (second level of instructorship) in the art of warriors Eskrima.
In 2017, after focusing on Eskrima for many years, Ray decided to study Silat. As he knew Serak and Bukti Negara has deeply influenced the Maphilindo Silat system, he started to search for a good instructor in Europe. By chance he saw several videos of Pukulan Pentjak Silat Bukti Negara -The Unified Art-.
Ray was so impressed by what he saw: the great body mechanics, the power generated by the art, the precision of the footwork etc…. that he immediately knew this was the art he would study for the rest of his life (beside the Filipino Martial Arts)!
So he decided to contact Walter van den Broeke, who accepted to teach him in Breda.
After the first training session Ray understood that this Pukulan Bukti Negara was richer and more profound than what you can imagine by only watching a video. He understood that the BN principles are useful to apply not only in Silat, but also in other martial arts. His thoughts were that the BN concepts could help to find a new understanding of the martial arts practiced before and could help to sole some problems he had noticed in his martial practice.
So he decided to dedicate himself to the study of the art and to promote it in the Charleroi Area (Belgium).
September 3rd 2017, Ray organized a BN workshop. Walter van den Broeke and his assistants came from the Netherlands to introduce BN in Charleroi. People who were present were so impressed that Ray asked Walter authorisation to open a Training Group for Charleroi.
Even though Ray is at the very beginning of his journey in BN, Walter accepted his request to start a group in Charleroi.
To maintain the high quality standards, Ray will have to go to the Netherlands on a regular basis to study the foundations of the art. He will also try to do as much seminars as possible in order to have as much feedback as possible about his own practice.
The new Pukulan Silat BN class in Charleroi will open on September 9th 2017 at
